About Celtic Rant

During the summer of 2006 three creative musicians came together to form "Celtic Rant". Kelly MacDonald on keyboards, Rob Wigle on guitar and mandolin, and Victor Fraser on guitar, launched their debut CD "Celtic Rant" in the fall of 2007. During the summer 2008 they welcomed Rob Greene to make it a foursome. Rob adds a new musical dimension to Celtic Rant with Scottish smallpipes, guitar, fiddle and bagpipes.

Celtic Rant blend the precision of Victor Fraser's Celtic guitar with the tradition of Cape Breton piano by Kelly MacDonald, and the spirited repartee of Rob Wigle's mandolin. Their performances draw from a repertoire of East Coast Celtic tradition: instrumentals, sea shanties, Irish ballads, not to mention original compositions. Their robust vocal harmonies pay a tribute to 200 years of traditional celtic music. Celtic Rant perform throughout the Maritimes.

   Celtic Rant Debut

The goal of "Celtic Rant" our debut, self-titled CD was to create a collection of songs and instrumentals both traditional, and original, that were influenced by Scottish, Irish, Acadian, and Sea Shanty traditions. It was important that Celtic Rant record music that could be performed live. This debut project is evidence of a concerted effort (no pun intented) by three fine folk musicians exploring their collective voice, adding to the body of Celtic music that defines the culture and tradition of the Maritimes.
